Identity is one of Milan Kundera's short but influential novels. He makes love the theme in each of his novels, but this novel stands out from the rest in that it revolves around only two main characters. In this article, we have examined the changes that take place within these two characters. How modern man fears losing his true relationships. How can he rediscover stagnant relationships. How does the author help the characters discover their love for each other through artistic play? How does he transform novel time into psychological time and renew their relationship by taking the characters through a process of true identity. An attempt has been made to understand this seemingly simple but deeply complex story by placing it in the context of other, especially classical, texts.
