Abstract

Marsiya is one of the most important genres of Urdu literature. Marsiya is a genre that is based on characterization. The Marsiya must have at least one character around which the fabric of the situation is formed which eventually ends with the death of the character. Meer Anees is one of the most famous Urdu Marsiya writers. In the characterization, Meer Anees is so perfected that no other Marsiya Go appears in this field against him. The question arises that what are the basic techniques of the characterization of Meer Anees which make him different from others? In this article, effort has been made to explore and elaborate the art of characterization in the Marsiyas of  Meer Anees.
