The Expression of Philosophy and Zeitgeist in the Poem of Iqbal

Abstract

Iqbal is a great poet of all times. He presented his poetry philosophically and thematically. He derived his message from Eastern and Western philosophers analytically. In the poems of Iqbal "Zeitgeist" (Spirit of Time) is dominant in all his creative and critical works. He gave the philosophical orientation (Zeitgeist) to the modern Urdu poem through his creative assimilations and expression of the best literary, cultural and philosphical traditions of the East as well as the West. No contemporary peot is compared with Iqbal in the presentation of modern poem with modern themes. He used classical genres for his thematic message throughout his poetry. Iqbal has the Quranic vision in his poetry. He used double vision to conceptualize the thematic study of world literature. In his critical approach, only eternal ideas and themes are permanent and temporary ones have no worth in future life.
