Abstract

Meera Ji  and N.M. Rashid are considered to be the pioneers of modern Urdu poem. Extensive use of symbolism in the poems of Meera Ji is one of the salient features of his poetry. Meera Ji produced his intellectual works on topics of sex and sensationalism in the society of sub-continent. These topics were considered to be the taboos and forbidden issues to be discussed in the context of social structure of the sub-continent in the age of Meera Ji. It is also evident that the research work carried out on the intellectual work of Meera Ji also revolves around the psychological tides of his persona. There is scarce research work available on the Meera Ji’s concept of man presented in his poems. The present research article is an attempt to fill this research gap. The article provides a deep insight into the Meera Ji’s concept of man in the societal perspective of sub-continent.
