Abstract

In Islam, the status of women has always been of great importance. Women, as mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives, deserve respect and are a source of honor. Islam has granted equal rights to both women and men. Many books have been written on the role of women in Islam. Anne-Marie Shimmel's book"My Soul is a Women" is also a part of this series. In this book, an effort is made to find answers to important questions about the role of women in Islam. The book also explains the reality of the propaganda against Islam in the name of women's rights. The book consists of 12 chapters. Throughout the chapters, the role of women is discussed. The first 8 chapters analyze the role of women from an Islamic perspective. The remaining four chapters focus on mythological figures and the role of women in the Indian subcontinent. From reading this book, one can understand that Anne-Marie Shimmel's scholarly and literary journey is truly remarkable. Whatever topic she addresses, she makes an effort to reach its true essence.
